About me.

I am Brett Brinkmeyer, a spiritual companion in Ames, IA. I graduated from PrarieFire’s Spiritual Direction Practicum course two years ago. Since that time I have experienced many changes. I trust that the openings that the divine has created in my life will continue forward with me, for as long as they’re intended. I invite you to find out if one of those openings is shared between us.

I am a practicing Christian, and deeply value the wisdom texts and practices that have emerged all over the world. I especially see hope, instruction, awakening, purpose, love, and find incredible guidance from the Hindu Upanishads, the Taoist Tao te Ching, the Hebrew Bible, and the Christian New Testament. Enlightened spiritual leaders and figures from across the world not only geographically, but historically, inform and spark a sense of curiosity and wonder within me. I hope to share the gifts that have resulted from engaging these with those who find a sense of connection in these words.

I have invited and welcome a healthy dose of mystery into my own spiritual walk. This has often resulted in a meandering path, as people who rely solely on firm doctrines and dogmas tend to have a heavy gravitational draw, at least for me. I believe that an invitation extended toward the mysteries of the inward truths that we all carry are meant to result in a better understanding of any outward truths that we may find along the way.

Whether or not you choose to walk with me through your own growth, and whatever the season of your life, I hope that you find meaning and fulfillment walking with you in the heart of your being.
